The Transformation “Alma Doble Filo”
Alma Doble Filo marks a turning point in my journey toward defining myself as an artist, where I decided to fully trust my intuition by embracing storytelling, a long lost passion of mine, through “Sé Perfecta”, my first series of black and white paintings and poems.
In this surreal body of work, the there is a female protagonist who is plagued by her desires, insecurities and contradicting needs. She is seen shifting through states, avoiding any fixed identity and learning to perform in order to exist, even as that performance begins to consume her. Her poses imitate those of a mime to capture this tension, giving the impression she is trapped within the canvas.
Rooted in personal experiences, the work examines cycles of addiction, validation, femininity, suicide, and how these themes repeat and evolve over time. Each piece captures a moment of consequence, giving form and beauty to what cannot be undone. Within this world, she encounters deities like Life, Death, and Karma, externalizing internal conflict through surreal encounters.
The series does not offer resolutions, instead it focuses on those cycles where survival, self-destruction and growth intertwine.
